Romagna: A Mosaic of Nature
Romagna is known for its mosaics, glittering reminders of Ravenna's importance to the Roman Empire, and the region itself is a mosaic: a rich array of textures, colors, and breathtaking biodiversity. From the Po Delta, one of the most important wetlands in Europe and an annual refuge to more than three hundred species of birds, along the sparkling Adriatic coast, across the golden plains, along a gypsum ridge, to the ancient forested slopes of the Apennines, Romagna is a wonder of the natural world. It encompasses the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena, Rimini, and the eastern quarter of the central province of Bologna.
